CancelPMI only collects the information needed to estimate PMI eligibility and follow up with you about your inquiry.

When you continue from the address field, we save the property address, referral source, calculator progress, and the mortgage details you enter or choose to import, such as purchase price, current value, loan balance, monthly PMI, loan type, and payment history. If you begin entering contact details, we may save the name, email, and optional phone number you provide even if you do not finish the review request. If you start a case, we also collect your servicer, loan number, mailing address, signature, and authorization record. We collect basic device, browser, referral, and interaction data for security and first-party service analytics. CancelPMI does not ask for a bank password. If you choose Method’s mortgage lookup, Method may request additional identity information inside its secure interface, as explained below.
If you choose Method’s mortgage lookup, Method verifies your identity and uses a soft credit inquiry to discover liabilities reported in your name. A soft inquiry does not affect your credit score. Method may request your date of birth, address, or Social Security number inside its interface. CancelPMI sends Method the legal name and phone number you enter, receives the selected mortgage data, and withdraws the temporary Method entity consent after the read. CancelPMI does not receive or store your raw identity answers or Method Opal token. If you choose the bank connection, Plaid handles the bank sign-in and may show other accounts in the bank’s consent screen. CancelPMI requests Plaid Liabilities for mortgage records only. We do not request Plaid Transactions or use checking or savings transaction history. CancelPMI saves the returned mortgage record and an encrypted Plaid access token on our server so available mortgage fields can refresh during your review. The token is never returned to the browser, logs, or analytics. CancelPMI never receives your bank password. You can disconnect the mortgage at any time. If you upload a statement, CancelPMI sends it to OpenAI or OpenRouter to extract mortgage fields. OpenRouter requests are restricted to providers marked for zero data retention and no data collection. CancelPMI processes the upload in memory, requests that model responses not be stored, and deletes temporary OpenAI PDF files after processing. CancelPMI saves only the extracted values you review and submit with a review request.
We use your address and mortgage inputs to estimate PMI eligibility, measure where people stop in the calculator, and follow up about the estimate. When the address form says postal follow-up may be sent, continuing records that permission and may result in relevant mail to the property address. We use your email for service messages about your request, and a reviewer may call the optional number you provide. Optional email reminders are sent only when you choose them and can be turned off from the preference link in any message. We do not enroll phone numbers in marketing text messages without separate consent. If you start a case, we use the saved mortgage and borrower information, electronic signature, and authorization record to review servicer requirements, prepare the request, communicate with the servicer, and show progress through a private signed case link.
When you text CancelPMI first, we use your mobile number, message, opt-in record, and delivery status to confirm your request, send a secure link, and respond about the requested PMI review. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Mobile information and text messaging opt-in data and consent are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share the minimum information needed with messaging providers solely to deliver and respond to your requested messages.
We use Mapbox for address autocomplete, Method for optional identity verification and one-time mortgage discovery, Plaid for optional mortgage connections during an active review, OpenAI or OpenRouter for optional statement extraction, Render to host the service and store submitted leads, PostHog for session replay, Knock and email delivery providers for service messages and preference management, Stripe for optional payment processing, and Lob for authorized USPS letter delivery. These providers receive only the information needed for their role. Email delivery may record delivery, opens, and link clicks. Stripe handles payment details; CancelPMI does not store your full card number.
We use PostHog session replay, Google Analytics, Google Ads, and the Meta Pixel on public pages to improve the calculator and measure ads. PostHog records page layout and interactions, but masks form inputs and selected mortgage values. Replay stays off on private case, preference, and admin routes and on callback URLs with sensitive values. Google and Meta receive limited event names and page information, not the mortgage values or documents you submit. We do not sell personal information for money.
An unfinished Plaid connection is removed after seven days. A connection attached to a submitted review is removed when you disconnect, when the case closes, or no later than 90 days after submission. The encrypted token is deleted when the connection is removed. Incomplete calculator records and imported mortgage records expire after 90 days unless they become a submitted lead. We keep submitted lead and case information while the review or case is active and then only for a legitimate business or legal need. Our standard limit is no later than two years after the most recent use to serve you, unless a longer period is required for an active case, dispute, fraud prevention, tax, or legal obligation. Method tokens and statement files are not retained by CancelPMI. Backups and provider systems may take additional time to complete deletion.
You can turn off optional reminders from the preference link in our email. To ask what information we have, correct it, stop postal follow-up, withdraw a case authorization, or request deletion, email hello@cancelpmi.app from the address used for your request. We may verify your identity before acting. Some authorization, delivery, payment, fraud-prevention, or legal records may need to be retained.
